Foghat

Foghat, the British rock outfit formed by ex-Savoy Brown members, became synonymous with high-energy, blues-infused hard rock in the 1970s. Powered by gritty vocals and dual slide guitars, their driving boogie sound earned them significant radio play and multiple gold and platinum albums, especially in America.

Active initially from 1971 to 1984, Foghat reformed in 1993 and continues performing today (as of 2025), anchored by original drummer Roger Earl. Their classic era firmly established their Blues rock roots, evident from their debut around 1972. Throughout the mid-70s, with key releases highlighted in 1974 and especially 1975, they solidified their powerful Hard rock sound. This consistent focus on guitar-driven Rock, rooted in the blues, defined their most successful period and cemented their reputation as reliable purveyors of hard-hitting rock and roll.

This classic period produced Foghat's most enduring anthems. Their popular cover of Willie Dixon's "I Just Want To Make Love To You" launched their career in 1972. Tracks like "Home in My Hand" showcased their energetic rock prowess. However, it was the iconic "Slow Ride," released in late 1975, that became their definitive signature song, a hard rock staple celebrated for its unforgettable riff and extended jam potential. These songs exemplify Foghat's mastery of blues-based hard rock and remain fan favorites in the classic rock canon.
